New HBO Series: Treme (from the creators of The Wire)

THIS is what I'm talking about.  I've been patiently waiting for something to take the place of one of the best HBO series ever (The Wire) and this just might be it.

Treme is a new series premiering on HBO April 11 focusing on the lives of several musicians and New Orleans locals 3 months after Hurricane Katrina.  The cast includes Khandi Alexander (HBO's The Corner), Wendel Pierce (The Wire), Rob Brown (Coach Carter) and John Goodman (Roseanne).  Check out the trailer below or go here.

From the trailer it looks like it's going to be awesome.  The music alone was enough to get my attention but having someone bring back to the forefront one of our nation's sore spots (New Orleans) will be something worth watching.  The creators of The Wire did an excellent job bringing to light topics in Baltimore that were consistently swept under the city's rug so I can only imagine what they have in store for this project.
