Mardi Gras (The Order of Myths documentary)

Oh yes, it is that time again.  I've never been to New Orleans but I will def get there.  I honestly don't know if I'd want to go during the Mardi Gras madness.  I am finding that my temper dealing with the public has gotten very short within the past couple of months so I'm not sure I'd do too well around a bunch of drunk 20-40 something year olds dancing naked in the streets for beads.  What I would LOVE to attend is one of the official ball type events where the participants go all out with the costumes, music, food etc.  I stumbled upon this documentary that supposedly exposes the truth about Mardi Gras and it's history.  This looks very interesting...

The doctrine, "separate but equal" ended in the 1950s, right? Think again. At America's oldest Mardi Gras—celebrated each year in Mobile, Alabama -- events remain segregated between white and black residents. Beneath the surface of pageantry, lies a complex story about race relations and the ever-present racial divide that persists in America today.

THE ORDER OF MYTHS premieres Tuesday, February 24 on Independent Lens, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Terrence Howard, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, Independent Lens is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide. According to the youtube page it is airing tonight but when I checked the pbs website for NY it says it's not on for the next 2 weeks *shrugs shoulders*.  I'll be checking around tonight.
