Nas @ the Fox News Protest
The revolution was a tad bit late today.
I work across the street from Fox News so I took a trip down to the "protest" on my lunch break. It was supposed to start at 2pm but I guess Nasir has his own agenda. I didn't get there till 230 and there was no more than 100 ppl gathered out front and still no Nas. Granted this was bigger than him, it's about bringing to the light Fox news's racists nature and letting the powers that be know that minorities specifically ppl of color are not going to stand for it, but let's be real, if Nas didn't say he was showing up half of those bright eyed bushy tailed teens waving posters for the cause wouldn't have either. I was told that the protest was to end at 3pm, so guess what time ya boy rolled up? Lol 3ish on the dot. He hopped out of a black SUV and was taken to the front of the tame crowd. They didn't have a mic or even a bull horn set up for the dude so I have no clue what he said but he did seem somewhat passionate about whatever it was. After he read his prepared speech, he chucked the deuce was rushed back to his SUV and I was on my way back to my office thinking...wtf?
Maybe this is just me but if you're going to protest a big ass corporation like FOX news you need to bring the big guns out. If there's one thing my man Fat Al (Rev Al Sharpton) knows how to do it's ruffle a couple of feathers. You know when Al Sharpton is protesting something or someone, hell the whole city knows and that's how it should be done. I doubt the VP's and exec's of Fox News all the way on the 47th floor even knew these ppl were out there or even cared and in reality what will this really change? If you really want to make an impact hit them where it hurts, in their wallets. Call your cable company and have their channels removed from your package and let them know exactly why you're doing it. Stop watching their bullshit broadcasts, stop going on their websites, investing in their stock, stop buying the NEW YORK POST or better yet GET OFF MYSPACE!!! The same jerk that owns Fox News owns MYspace and the NY Post, Rupert Murdoch, google him.
Honestly I have to say he really needed more ppl on this one. This thing seem more like a publicity stunt by Nas than anything else. The "Sly Fox" song couldn't have come at a better time and this was the perfect opportunity for him to get folk talking about him some more. Him showing up late, saying a few words and bouncing didn't rub me the right way. He should have been out there holding up signs, shouting slogans, blocking traffic, demanding to see someone in charge or ANYTHING that would have made it seem like he was at least a little bit into it. IDK like I said I came down around 230, maybe I showed up too late for all that, for all I know it could have went down like that at 2pm, maybe I missed the revolution...
I had no intention on fighting the crowd to get up front and get a better shot so if you care to waste a minute or two of your life watching Nas's back in silence, please do, I'm the damn fool that taped it and uploaded it lol.
