Man falls on subway tracks, train rolls over him and...
IT DOESN'T EVEN TOUCH HIM!
You know what, my father was a transit supervisor for 50+ years and he told me a long time ago that if I ever fell (or was pushed) onto the tracks when a atrain was coming to lie in the little ditch between the tracks and I wouldn't get hit. Well I never tried it for myself and I could only imagine how he knew that after working for transit for so long, but I used to tell ppl that all the time and they never believed me.
Man avoids subway wheels by staying between tracks
A straphanger who fell from a Manhattan subway platform Tuesday dodged the wheels of a train by lying in the sunken space between the tracks as the train rolled over him.
The 55-year-old man apparently stumbled and fell off the northbound platform of the F train at the Delancey St. station at 1:34 p.m., FDNY officials said.
The conductor slammed on the emergency brake, but the train didn't come to a stop until three cars had passed over the man, an MTA spokeswoman said.
"There was no contact with the train," she said.
With only some cuts and bruises to his head, the man, whose name was not released, was able to climb between cars back onto the platform before being taken out of the station on a stretcher.
Power on the tracks was shut off for about 30 minutes, and service was suspended between Jay St. and W. Fourth St.
The straphanger was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
