My Santogold experience
First off if you're not up on Santogold, shame on you. She's a new artist from Brooklyn who's debut album "Santogold" dropped yesterday. She did a performance @ the Virgin Mega Store in NYC and I wanted to catch her perform before she skated off across seas until sometime in June and I'm glad I did. I can't even put her in a category (if I had to I'd say she's a mix of new wave/alternative/funk/techno with a twist of reggae and a dash of r&b) but her sound is amazing and she sounds even better live. She has good energy and plays the crowd well (lots of ppl came thru). Her performance was great and she seems really sweet and humble. Not the fake thanks for buying my album humble, humble like she was so happy that she CRIED on stage. She was talking about how happy she was to be performing in NYC and how happy she was that the album was out and that ppl were feeling it and she pulled the ultimate "Aww man I'm going to cry". You know what happens when ppl say that, they start crying. It wasn't a meltdown, just a few happy tears into her next song (she did LES Artistes, Shove it, Creator, Unstopable, Starstruck which is fiyah!! & of course You'll find a way remix, - a few can't remember them all). Overall it was cool and I highly recommend her album (I mean actually pay money for it) here are a few more pics:
